instagram and church

So, I havent blogged in forever…but i have been doing a lot of deep thinking lately, and I cam across this article/post today, and i began to wonder about how this same idea applies itself to the thing we call “church”.

Dont get me wrong, I love the church, I love Gods people, but sometimes we seem so blind to the patterns of death that we allow into this thing that we sell as “life giving”. I just wonder how many of us who serve in church have been caught up in this “ministry” rat race the whole time while something new and fresh is being choked out by our frameworks that we hang onto so dearly…but here is the catch…the “new and fresh” are actually the most deep ancient things that we have longed for this whole time. What God has been up to for millennia has actually been the thing that we have crowded out with our systems and ways. Anyone who knows me knows that im not speaking of tradition, I love tradition…but im not so much a fan of traditionalism, and im starting to see more and more how much of a traditionalist i can be…

One Year…

I cant believe its been a year since the devastating quake in Haiti. The reminder of the frailty of life after the Fall is ringing in my mind as I type this…Also ringing in my mind are the countless stories of Gods children doing the work of The Kingdom in restoring life to the people of Haiti, and while I havent had the priveledge to be there in person seeing The Kingdom come to earth…I can do one thing…pray.

For me, prayer has been relegated to one of those “i say its important with my mouth but dont really live like i believe my own words” areas of my theology…

I hope that tomorrow, while I pray(and maybe fast) ill be able to learn something new about what my Daddy the King hears and does when I pray for my co-heirs…

Sometimes, I am blown away not by the fact that God has bestowed enough grace on us to be able to appreciate something this beautiful, but that we are able to so easily capture it and share it…and then forget about it, and take it for granted that the sky is beautiful to look at…and that grace is so much more beautiful than any sky could ever be…
(this is a picture i took while eating dinner at a restaurant on the beach about 10 minutes from my house, hence, the “for granted”)

One hundred religious persons knit into a unity by careful organizations do not constitute a church any more than eleven dead men make a football team. The first requisite is life, always.

international street kids…

ok, so if i havent already told you, my company has partnered up with an awesome organization called International Street Kids. They help orphaned kids around the world, both with physical needs, and by introducing them to Jesus Christ and discipling them.

Needless to say, you should check them out asap!

it feels good…

to actually feel like i accomplished something today. been doing a lot of design-ish type stuff for my church ,and it always feels like i could do more, or do what was done better…etc. but today i actually feel like i got some stuff done, and i am actually happy with it. most likely i’ll have to recant this blog in like an hour or so…lol

so, i finally did it

i upgraded to tumblr from blogger, and i gotta say….its pretty sweet. much cleaner, and easier to customize. i look forward to blogging more often
